Overview

Pathibhara Cultural Trail is a pilgrimage to ‘Pathibhara Devi' and an in-depth experience of the Limbu people who dominate the region's culture, tradition, and way of life. The Goddess of Pathibhara is said to have miraculous powers and to have fulfilled the prayers of her devotees. The legend about the temple's foundation has been passed down from generation to generation, alleging that hundreds of sheep vanished while grazing the land where the temple now stands. According to legend, the troubled shepherds had a dream in which the Goddess revealed her location and commanded them to perform ritualistic sheep sacrifices. When the sacrifice was made and the temple and statue were installed, the missing sheep were said to have returned, and Pathibhara Devi was worshipped from then on. Worshippers come from all over Nepal and India to visit the temple on special occasions, believing that a pilgrimage to the temple would grant them all of their wishes.
