Overview

The Annapurna region's Mardi Himal trekking is a short but spectacular trek that is rising in popularity every day. The Mardi Himal Trek explores some of the Annapurna region's lesser-known regions, bringing adventurers closer to Mt. Fishtail and providing spectacular views of the Annapurna range's other peaks, including Mardi Himal.

This trek is a great combination of tea house and homestay treks, providing a rich cultural immersion into Nepalese culture and hospitality. It's a beautiful and quiet walk where you can get away from the crowds while still seeing the stunning Himalayan sights. This is a wonderful and quiet trek to get closer to the Annapurna region's mighty mountains. It's an excellent choice for those looking for a short, peaceful, and spectacular Himalayan trek.

Itinerary

DAY 01
Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport. (1300m/4,265ft)

Your trip starts today when you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Upon your arrival, you will be received by our ANA representative at the airport. He'll be carrying an ANA board with your name written on it. Then you will be transferred to the hotel.  After you check into the hotel, our representative will brief you about your trip. Then free till pick up time for the welcome dinner. In your spare time, you can relax, walk around the hotel, go shopping for necessities, and so on.

DAY 02
Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (822m./2,697ft.) :205km. Approximately :7Hours

Early in the morning, take a tourist bus or a private vehicle from Kathmandu to Pokhara, passing along the Trisuli River. It takes approximately 7 hours to reach the Pokhara valley. In Pokhara, we can visit some interesting places such as Devi's Fall, Guptswor Cave, Tal Barahi Temple, and boating on Phewa Lake.

Option: We have not included the airfare from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The exciting half-hour flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara gives you the feeling of a mountain flight, high in the Himalayas, with views of the Langtang, Dhaulagiri, and Annapurna ranges. If you choose to fly to Pokhara, we will arrange as per your desire.

DAY 03
Drive to Kande (1,770m./5,807ft.) and trek to Pitam Deurali (2,150m./7,053ft.ft.) VIA Australian Camp (2,055m./6,742ft.):Distance 5.5km Approximately:4 Hours

Today is the first day of our trek. We start early morning drive for one hour from Pokhara to Kande. We set on our first trekking steps on the mountains. The first section of the trek is a steep uphill walk to Australian Camp. We spend some time at Australian Camp for the lunch and admire the panoramic view of the Annapurna range. After lunch we walk on pace towards Deurali via Pothana.

DAY 04
Trek from Pitam Deurali to Low Camp (3,050m./10,006ft.):Distance 6.8km. Approximately :4 Hours

We'll start the day with a healthy breakfast at the hotel in Deurali. We then continue our journey to Low camp. We will enjoy the trek as we trek along the beautiful trail, taking in the most scenic views. We'll arrive at Low Camp after nearly 4 hours of walking. The Low Camp offers a breathtaking view of Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) Himal.

DAY 05
Trek from Low Camp to High Camp(3,600m./11,811ft.):Distance 8.5km. Approximately :5 Hours

Today, we will travel directly to the High Camp. We'll arrive at the Middle Camp after ascending through the Rhododendron forest. Then, after leaving the Badal Danda behind, we'll continue along the Mardi Himal ridge. You can admire the magnificent views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna 'South,' and Hiunchuli. A few Rhododendron bushes and the vibrant Danphe in the area are also stunning. Apart from the Mountain View, we can enjoy the view of several beautiful villages of Chhomrong, Ghandruk in the Annapurna region.

DAY 06
Hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500m./14,763ft) from High Camp and Back. Distance :9km. Approximately: 6-7 Hours

We are going to achieve the highest elevation of the trek today and the day is also the highlight of the trip. We are going to trek to the Mardi Himal Base Camp situated at 4500 meters above sea level. The walk today is characterized by a rocky and steep path which gives us some challenging task yet keeps us at our leisurely pace. The walk brings us wonderful views of Mardi Himal, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Himchuli, Gangapurna, Gandharbhachuli etc. to make our challenging day a little soothing. Once we reach the Mardi Himal base camp and spend some time there, we start descending towards the High Camp for overnight stay.

DAY 07
Trek from High Camp to Sidding Village (1,750m./5,741ft.). Distance :11.3km. Approximately :6-7 Hours

On the way back we take a different route so completing a circuit, from Low Camp there is a trail that goes down to Siding village rather than going back down Mardi Himal back to Kokar. Siding is a traditional Nepalese village and still very much away from the busier modern tourist treks and it is likely you will stay at a homestay in Siding owned by the person who runs one of the lodges at Low Camp. It is a wonderful cultural experience finding out more about village life and you will probably eat dhal baht in the evening with the family in their kitchen.

DAY 08
Trek from Sidding to Lumre Approximately 3 Hours and drive to Pokhara (822m./2,697ft.) about 3 Hours .

You walk from Siding to the Lumre roadhead, passing through the villages of Kalimati and Ghalel along the way. Kalimati is primarily a Brahmin village, with the Ghalel and Siding communities being a mix of Brahmin and Gurung people. 

Upon reaching Lumre, we will take a 4wd and travel towards Pokhara. You can see the upper viewpoint and the ridge you walked upon the past few days. A 3 hours drive, and we reach our destination. You will be taken to your hotel. Enjoy your leisure time in there. or After check in hotel, You can rest at hotel or can do sightseeing, boating, lakeside walking, Shopping etc. your guide will support you for those activities an extra cost.

DAY 09
Fly back to Kathmandu (1300m/4,265ft) 30 minutes from Pokhara

After breakfast free till flight from Pokhara. As your wish you can do  some adventure sports like paragliding, zip flying, ultra-light flight, bungee jumping  etc. The day’s activities would be at an extra cost. We will be happy to organize those extra activities for you, should you choose to do any.  After lunch drive to domestic Airport and fly back to Kathmandu.                                                                       
When you arrive in Kathmandu, you have a option an extra cost. If you are interested to do some sightseeing in heritage sites, guide will take you directly to sightseeing sport or shopping places. Otherwise, transfer to Hotel and you will be free till Dinner.

DAY 10
Final Departure.

You will be transferred to the airport as per your flight schedule. We will pick you up from the hotel three hours prior to your flight time.

Here’s a complete rundown of what to bring if you’re planning a trek to Everest Base Camp or any other tea-house trek in Nepal.  Proper preparation and equipment for the conditions will go a long way to ensuring you have a great trekking experience.  What follows is a pretty comprehensive list and will make sure you are covered in the coldest months of the year. If you have questions on what you might need just ask us and keep in mind that Kathmandu is a great place to buy trekking gear at affordable prices.


IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS AND ITEMS

  • Valid passport, 2 extra passport size photos, airline tickets
  • Separate photocopies of passport, visa form (easily obtained at Kathmandu airport), proof of insurance
  • Dollars, pounds or Euros in cash for purchasing Nepalese visa at Kathmandu airport, for paying for restaurants and hotels, for gratuities, snacks, and to purchase your own drinks and gifts
  • Credit cards, Bank/ATM/Cash machine cards for withdrawing funds from cash machines (bring a photocopy of your cards), traveler's checks, etc.
