Overview

Champadevi hiking is one of the most beautiful day hikes in the Kathmandu valley. On a clear day in the northern horizon, it is a five-hour hike with a view of Kathmandu valley and the Himalayan range. The beautiful town of Pharping, where the hiking begins, is about an hour away by car. To get to Pharping, the road passes from a historical gorge through which all of the water from Kathmandu Valley flows out, a beautiful lake in the Taudaha wetland district, and some local villages. After arriving in Pharping, you can visit a Vishnu temple, a Buddhist monastery, and Guru Padmasambhava's historic cave before beginning the day's hiking. The hike itself isn't difficult. The climb to the top ridge of the hill takes about two hours, and once there, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Himalayas as well as a breathtaking view of Kathmandu district.
